„Modular Youth” ist eine 17-minütige atmosphärische Film- und Soundperformance der Raumstrategin Luisa Lukas und dem Industriedesigner Mika Siponen. In der Arbeit geht es um die Auseinandersetzung mit der Subjektivität früher Kindheitserlebnisse und dem poetischen Zurück–besinnen. Charakter der Performance ist die Mischung von analoger und digitaler Technik. Glitches und Pixel-Ästhetiken in Form eines ursprünglichen Übertragungsfehler, werden zum geeigneten Stilmittel, Melancholie und Atmosphäre zu übermitteln. Im Dialog mit der visuellen Ebene werden Klangspuren live und intuitiv über ein Push-Pad eingespielt und moduliert, sodass sie mit jeder Performance variieren – eine Collage aus Samples, eingespielten Klängen, sowie organischen Drone- und Ambientspuren. Durch Verzerrungen des Klanges wird eine zunehmende Spannung erzeugt, die auf dem Höhepunkt schlagartig wegfällt, um eine tiefe Stille und Intimität zu erzeugen.

"Modular Youth" is a 17-minute atmospheric film and sound performance by spatial strategist Luisa Lukas and industrial designer Mika Siponen. The work is about the examination of the subjectivity of early childhood experiences and the poetic recollection. The character of the performance is the mixture of analog and digital technology. Glitches and pixel aesthetics in the form of an initial transmission error, become the appropriate stylistic device to convey melancholy and atmosphere. In dialogue with the visual layer, sound tracks are played live and intuitively modulated via a push pad, so that they vary with each performance - a collage of samples, recorded sounds, as well as organic drone and ambient tracks. Distortions of the sound are used to create an increasing tension, which abruptly falls away at the climax to create a deep silence and intimacy.
