Eine Transformationsstrategie für den urbanen Raum

In den kommenden Jahrzehnten hat sich die Menschheit beunruhigenden Transformationsprozessen zu stellen. Obwohl Nahrungsmittelherstellung und in sich geschlossene Kreislaufsysteme lebensnotwendig sind, werden diese Themengebiete in der Planung für die Zukunft urbaner und ruraler Lebensräume auch in ihrem Gesamtzusammenhang zwar thematisiert, aber mit einer nicht ernst zu nehmenden Notwendigkeit verfolgt. Für eine zukunftsfähige Stadt ist es entscheidend, Konzepte zu entwickeln, die sowohl Disziplinen als auch menschliche und nichtmenschliche Wesen verbindet. Die „annum 2026“ - ein wissenschaftlich, künstlerisch und vermittlungsmotiviertes Format ähnlich einer „Biennale“ - dient als ein Beispiel dafür, wie sich ein grünes Netzwerk mit der Arbeit von vielen AkteurInnen über die Stadt Kiel spannt. Die Stadt transformiert sich für ein Jahr in eine künstlerische, architektonische und wissenschaftliche Plattform, in der eine urbane Nahrungsmittelproduktion stattfindet.

A transformation strategy for urban space

In the coming decades, humanity will have to face disturbing transformation processes like rising sea levels, periods of drought and resource scarcity. Although food production and self-contained circulatory systems are essential for survival, these topics are not addressed with any urgency in urban planning. Everyday practices destroy the habitats of other living beings and separate humans from other species. In my master thesis I have observed and documented rigid practices such as factory farming or monocultures and I asked myself how our relationship to other organisms and food can be changed. The “annum 2026” transforms Kiel for one year into an artistic, architectural, and scientific platform where urban food production takes place. The aim is to develop and establish sustainable, species-friendly, and self-sufficient concepts that combine multiple disciplines. The “annum 2026” is an example of how a green network is created that can bring human and non-human beings together.
