Raum- und Videoinstallation

Weltweit entstehen über 150 neue Planstädte. Sie behaupten ein Allheilmittel gegen all unsere aktuellen Probleme wie Überbevölkerung, Umweltverschmutzung oder Klimawandel zu sein. Dazu zählt u.a. auch "Forest City". Auf vier künstlichen Inseln soll vor der Küste Malaysias ein Paradies entstehen: Eine autofreie Stadt, smart vernetzt und von oben bis unten begrünt – ein wahres Ecotopia? In meiner Videoinstallation ANOTHER ECOTOPIA untersuchte ich kritisch, ob solche Planstädte wirklich zur Lösung unserer Probleme beitragen. Meine BA-Thesis ist ein Projekt des DenkRaums der CAU Kiel. Als assoziiertes künstlerisches Mitglied stand ich im Austausch mit Wissenschaftler*innen verschiedener Disziplinen und mit Prof. Dr. Sarah Moser vom New Cities Lab der McGill University in Montreal. Meine daraus entstandene Videoinstallation wurde im Februar 2023 in einem Leerstand in der Kieler Innenstadt ausgestellt. Um so die Kernfrage, wie wir in Zukunft leben wollen, in den Stadtraum zurückzuspiegeln.

More than 150 new cities are being planned worldwide. They claim to be an intelligent and future-oriented answer to all of our current problems such as overpopulation, pollution or climate change. "Forest City" is one of these urban mega-projects. A paradise is to be created on four artificial islands off the coast of Malaysia: A car-free city, smartly networked and greened from top to bottom - a true Ecotopia? In my video installation ANOTHER ECOTOPIA I critically examined whether such new planned cities really contribute to solving our problems. My bachelor thesis is also a project of the DenkRaum at the CAU Kiel. As an associated artistic member, I was in contact with scientists from various disciplines and with Prof. Dr. Sarah Moser from McGill University's New Cities Lab in Montreal. My resulting video installation was exhibited in February 2023 in a vacant space in downtown Kiel. In order to reflect the core question of how we want to live in the future in the urban space.
